Keep Your Identity Intact With These Helpful Hints

Yes, you want protection but you are not sure how to do it. I have a few helpful ideas that will increase the safety when it comes to identity theft. Here are the ways to help yourself:

  1. When going through your mail, first rip all of your name and address off the envelopes. Rip any identifying marks off the letters, applications and envelopes.
  2. When discarding magazines, rip out your subscription name but also with catalogs --open to the middle pages --the order form to find your name and address all neatly printed out. Most people miss this one.
  3. When people outside demand information such as a social security number, refuse to give it. After all , you can always walk away without applying what you are applying for.
  4. Do not tell stangers your business or your personal information. Know who strangers are. Remember, sometimes the people that we meet and talk with every day are truly strangers to us. Remember Son of Sam? Well, his neighbors all thought he was a quiet, nice guy. So, remember just because you live next door that does not mean that you are not strangers to each other. Be careful.
  5. Checking all mail and all advertisements thoroughly is the best way to avoid identity theft.
Right at this moment I am watching a television news show about people who are selling identities on the net, and even giving free samples of these identities. There are special chat rooms where many people go into the rooms just to sell identities. So knowing that you need to be extremely careful with your personal information. Start today. Begin today by protecting yourself.

Try these:

Get a credit report each and every year. Even if you do not need it, consider this a help in catching or avoiding identity thefts.

Get rid of all junk mail; stop that from coming to your home.

Keep your information safe, secure and private.

Good luck !
