There are only three types of people in network marketing. Figure them out and save time, hassles and headaches! To have a successful MLM (multi-level marketing) business you will need to filter through the Promise makers and Procrastinators to find your real Players. We’ll call them the three P’s to make it easy to remember, let’s get started.

First you have the super excited, ready to take on the world, heavy hitting LOOSERS! No I’m not being too harsh, that’s what they are. All hype, full of promises that they are going to build this thing to the moon with you and then give up before they even get a single sign up or shortly there-after! All talk and no walk. Often times these people underestimate the actual work involved in building a thriving MLM business. All of the sifting through the mines required before you find the gold!

That’s what working an MLM business is all about! Sift for gold and when you find it, polish it. You don’t go trying to turn a stone into gold by rubbing it hard enough! Same goes for wasting time trying to re-motivate these promising losers once they’ve hit the highway, off to look for an easier ride.

MLM is a tough business. Anyone who tells you otherwise is a liar! You’ve got to have tough skin to handle rejection. Just think how exhausted these gold miners were back in the day. But when they found their gold… OUUUUUUU EEEEE LOOK OUT! They became almost overnight millionaires, and the same is true with MLM. Now thank god we have much more sophisticated sifting tools to help us in our prospecting. It would be like trying to build a downline without harnessing the prospecting power of the Internet! We are really living in an incredible age with all that is at our disposal!

Next in line, the second category of the three types of people in network marketing are the Procrastinators. Usually Procrastinators tend to be our closest friends. We want them in the business so bad we listen to all of their excuses, put off’s and “next week”
answers to joining the business. These Procrastinators are always eager to join in the beginning just “not now”. Right? Ya, we know all too well the Procrastinators. Undoubtedly next week rolls around and they have another “legitimate reason” or excuse why now isn’t the right time either or avoid your calls altogether. The truth is with Procrastinators; it is never the right time!

Don’t count your eggs before they’re hatched! One good way to get a Procrastinator to move it or loose it and take action is to scare the living ba-jesus outta them. Put the fear of loss into them. Of course you’ve got to be confident when saying this. You counteract a Procrastinator with this “Boy, are you ever going to kick yourself in the butt. I’m doing this with or without you and you have a chance to grab a top position in my matrix right now. You will forever regret not making the smart decision”. Ouch! How would you like hearing that from a good friend? Let me tell you, that little gem of a phrase will help you to separate the Procrastinators from the Players. And all you need on a winning team in a few great Players!

Finally, the last category of the three types of people in network marketing are the Players. The Gold we all hoped we attracted right out the get go when we first built out MLM businesses. It takes a lot of sifting to find these people. But here’s the good news you only need a few of them! A few pieces of gold are worth much more than a sack full of rocks!

Players have distinct qualities. They play the game, do the numbers, make the calls, make the sales, and do something when they say they will. They are natural born leaders, people that take the initiative to do things on their own. They have what it takes to stick in the ring and play another round. Players get the work done and stick to their vision. Sure they may have bad days or weeks like the rest of us, however their vision of the future is stronger than defeat. That’s why when you find a player, you spend time polishing them, just like the rare gems that they are!

Remember the 80/20 rule. Only 20% of your team will perhaps be Player material. Spend 80% of your time working and helping them get to the next level in the marketing plan. Let the other 80% to the demons with which they allow to infect their minds. The excuses, the “cants”, the “it’s just not the right timing for me”. We’ve all heard this before, even after people sign up in the business!

Keep one thing straight in your mind. Become fascinated by the people that don’t take your incredible opportunity and ride it to the moon with you. Being fascinated saves you a whole lot of frustration too! Certainly the lack of quality MLM training can often be the cause for failure, but why is it that some people who get great training still fail?

Belief

That’s why people fail. They just don’t believe that they can have success. Perhaps someday almost all people will come to the realization that MLM works, and that it can work for them. That someday will happen for you if you can truly understand and believe.

Belief #1 - You must believe in your MLM company

When you get started in MLM you probably believe in the MLM concept, it just makes sense, but a lot of people join an MLM company they will never believe in. You leave this exciting meeting and you’ve met people just like you who are changing their lives and it’s easy to get excited. But, when that excitement wears off, do you really believe in the company you just joined?

If you don’t believe in the company, you’ll never talk to anybody about it, and when asked what happened to your new business you will say something like “I tried that and it didn’t work”.

Build belief in your MLM company by asking questions, going to meetings, talking with successful people and putting yourself in a supportive environment. Read all the literature and participate in the webinars and conference calls, immerse yourself in this new world. If you don’t believe in your MLM company you have no shot at success!

Belief #2 - You must believe in your MLM company’s products or services

You must be a product of the product. You’ve probably heard it before, but have you done it consistently? Do you know your products or services backwards and forwards because you’ve used them? Would you sell them to your mother or best friend?

We were able to save more than $100,000 with our service, the same service that we market for $39.95 a month. Don’t you think our belief level is sky high? Nobody believes more than we do!

Sure, sales people can sell anybody anything, but most multi-level marketers aren’t great sales people. People with integrity have to believe in what they’re doing or they won’t do it. Use the same products you’re attempting to market or you won’t ever achieve long term success.

Belief #3 - You must believe in MLM

This is where almost everyone struggles mightily. I’d like to believe in MLM, but all I’ve ever done is fail. Take it from a former MLM loser, anybody with desire and time can be successful in MLM.

Study the industry, talk to people who are living lives on their terms and you will begin to believe. Get as close as you possibly can to successful multi level marketers and ask them what has helped them become successful.

We’ve got friends who didn’t believe in MLM until we took a 7 week vacation! Hearing about success is one thing, knowing somebody who has taken a 7 week vacation is a whole different ballgame.

Belief #4 - You must believe in yourself

Even if you totally believe in your MLM company and your company’s products and believe in the MLM industry, none of that matters if you don’t believe that you can become successful. Most of us carry a lot of baggage with us all of our lives.

The failures in our past do not have to predict our future, but all too often we let those failures trap us into thinking that we cannot escape. We believe that we cannot escape poverty, even though we can.

A very good friend of ours grew up in the projects on the south side of Chicago. His mother believed that she could find a better life for her children, so she moved her family, and in the process dramatically altered the lives of generations. Her children and grandchildren are different because of her sacrifice.

They are different because she believed!

We met her son and shared our belief that MLM could change his life and the lives of his children. Today our friend earns 6 figures in our MLM company, a fact that we are both thankful for.

When you develop all 4 of the beliefs in this article you will be given the opportunity to shape and change the lives of people you would have never met any other way. One of the skills that you have to employ as a skilled marketer is not only the submission of ads or articles etc. It is also the repetition of those activities. This is also applicable to the home based business. You simply can not in this theater called the internet send out only one email or list one classified and expect a large return.

The secret to succeeding is of course targeting your market and good copy this is used as a standard for many folks in Network Marketing and Multi-Level Marketing. Yet, the skill of repetition is not emphasized as much as it should be.
Any home based business or business opportunity must see that most Network Marketers place many ads and do various other forms of marketing for their products and services.

It is my understanding and experience that taking only one action or using only one ad will not get you, to the promised land. The probabilities of getting results would come from sophisticated strategies and a much broader scope of the internet itself. We are amazed that some network marketers even multi level marketers make so many sales. The only reason is that they found that the way of getting better results is by using different systems and analyzing those systems based off results.

To keep momentum going one has to market consistently over time. As more people enter the working world of the internet they slowly recognize that the internet operates off of different set of rules than Brick and Motor stores or wholesalers.

All network and multi-level marketers and home based business owners, have not only the technical challenges to face but the competition for position in the marketplace. Once these learning curves are mastered, then it is simply keeping an eye out for new venues to promote in, and keeping up with ones own lather, rinse and repeat activities.

Start ups have the biggest challenge if they have not studied the internet as a marketplace. They do have to go through the learning curve like everyone else has. Then they have to invest their time, money and energy to filter out what the best opportunities are. They may get very discourage when they dont meet with the success that they hope for through the network or multi-level experience. This of course leads to other issues which is not really relevant to this topic.

To master most skills, repetition is a major key, to really master the internet marketing you need to not only learn the fundamentals of good advertising, but you must master the skill of repetition. This skill can not be over emphasized to all the Network and Multi-Level marketing groups and Home Based Business Owners.

4. Submit your latest pillar article to a blog carnival. A blog carnival is a post in a blog that summarizes a collection of articles from many different blogs on a specific topic.

3. Submit your blog to blogtopsites. You have to copy and paste a couple of lines of code on to your blog . This will help you generate mlm blog traffic as you will get one to ten subscribers a day with this method.

I would suggest starting off with promoting ebooks.It is a much easier way to start a home based business. You may not see anything happening straight away but persevere because if you do it right you may just be able to live out your dream. Most people are taught to believe that if you work 40 years and then retire you can live comfortably for the rest of your life. Wrong. I go very deep into this process in my live trainings but you can practice this daily starting one letter at a time. I challenge you to start conversations with the letter F and just listen as people tell you about their family and who is most important to them. You will be amazed at how great a conversationalist YOU become by getting people to talk about themselves and what’s important to THEM.

Through this FORM process where you spend the majority of your time asking questions and LISTENING, you will discover the person’s needs, strengths and goals. Once you get to the M (message), they have already given you the reasons why your business opportunity will provide the vehicle for them to reach their goals. This method will show you how to help people get what they want which in turn will always help you get what you want. It isn’t about you or your product or service. It is about your prospect and what they want. Master this concept and you will leave other wannabe business builders in the dust!

For many years people have sought to spread the word about their home based businesses on safe lists. They said it was either very low cost or free advertising. And they said that one could reach others who understood MLM or network marketing or home based business attitudes. Thus one could reach others who would be of a like mind.

And there are even those who claim, and rightfully so, that they have made lots of money advertising on safe lists or had people sign up for their opportunity from a safe list.

However, upon closer scrutiny it becomes apparent that only certain types of businesses do well on safe lists. And those are businesses that advertise the next hot safe list to join, or that advertise a tool or system that will enable the home based business owner to more widely or efficiently promote their business.

As for those who have had success on a safe list getting others to sign up for their business opportunity, for every one who claims that there are 999 others who claim otherwise. In other words, every now and then even a blind hog roots out an acorn.

Sad to say, if you are promoting your own network business you will not do well. What happens is that you wind up promoting your own business to others who are promoting their own business and have little or no interest in what you have to offer. They want you to read their offer but wind up just going to the link to get their credits and delete your offer as quickly as possible so they can hurry to another link and do the same thing all over again.

Two more people can also make money on a safe list. And that is the person who owns the safe list and the person who sells you an e-book that tells you how to best use the safe list. So, unless you are the safe list owner, or have a product that appeals to the safe list niche market, I would avoid them like the plague. It is not only a waste of your time, but of your money too.
